If you take it to the central bank in Dublin there will be no charge and the conversion rate remains the same approx €1.27 to 1 IRP£. Therefore, £IRP25 will be worth about €31.75.

But, if you wait another little while there's a chance it'll become legal tender again :p

If you don't have the cash and just want to know the value taking inflation into account, then the CPI index (use google) is your friend.

Oh yes. I did some work for member of a political party in 92. Went to a lot of trouble and delivered because he needed it done fast. I charged him 25 quid. The besterd never paid me despite repeated requests. And to hear him on local radio on about standing up for low paid workers and exploitation etc. you'd think he was a man of honour. now heres the best bit....

    He's running for the dail!!!

well I guess he will be among his own type up there.

So I need to know what is 25 quid worth now taking inflation and everything else nito account. I mean what would what I could buy for 25 quid cost today?? I want to confront hm with an updated invoice.

I'd still send him a statement with interest.
£25 for services rendered in 1992
    converted to euro (€1=£0.787564) = €31.74
    Interest @ 2% (18 years) = €13.59
    Total = €45.33

    Also I googled this: http://www.entemp.ie/enterprise/smes/latepay.htm
So looks like you could send him a bill for a lot more, although I suppose this only relates to invoices raised since the regulation came into force.

Good man Techni-fan and thanks for going to all that trouble.
    I think it's worth more than e45.

I gotta figure out how many pints I could have gotten for 25pounds in '92.

Then convert that into how much would it cost for the same number of pints today. I'm sure it would cost a lot more than 45e.?

In pints, £25 would buy you 14.79 pints in 1992 at £1.69 a pint.
    Today, 14.79 pints would cost you €64.20 at €4.34 a pint. well that's 2009's price, see http://www.anthonykelly.com/inflation.html

    :)

Well that more like it. gonna bill him for that. Probably hand him an invoice where he least expects it, and say something like, " Well boy, are you finally gonna pay me after all these years?"
