Not sure if he would need a 3/4 at his age - if so, you might have to order soon (I had trouble finding a 3/4 last year and only just got it in time). There are other (slightly higher priced) versions of the squiers if you wish go up a step.

go to the music shop on lower liffey street, i can't remeber the name but they have alot of 3/4 guitars.
also try music maker just up from dunnes on georges street
