well, ive 12 dry sucklers still out on a 20 acre field which has plently of shelter and a river for water theres loads of grass on it and they have been able to graze away the last few days + im giving them 2kgs of beef nuts a day but with all the snow thats fallen today there will be maybe 2 inches of snow on the grass so will they still be able to graze this or will i have to bring them up some silage - which will be tricky with the roads??
they have been fine every day so far and there in very good condition but am a little worried bout em, its impossible to bring em home now will have to wait till thaw to do that?

If you could, give them a bit of hay or a bale of silage. Something to warm the bellies. Although cows can be tough creatures in weather like this whereby they will still try and graze even in snow whereas young stock will initially stand and pine. The meal is a help but if you could try give them some fodder. I'm the same myself, just had to try and brave it, could.nt stand the thought that the poor feckers were starving in the cold.

yea im going to try bring up a bale of hay to em today the only problem is the jeep barely makes it up to them so with the trailer and a bale in it will be fun!!

A bit of straw would do even, especially when giving them 2Kgs of meal.

eventually got to bring them up a bale of silage today with the roads being so bad and the feckers turned up their noses at it picked a bitof it, ate the nuts then went back grazing through 4 inches of snow wouldnt mind was a bale of the best silage
not a brack on them out!!

    very funny.

think pulp nuts would help if you can get them or else increase the meal a by a kilo per head.
