    Hi all,

Does anyone know of any open source platform that would be similar to how donedeal.ie operates?

The basic idea is to allow two types of users to register accounts, one of the user types will be able to post pages (product pages/ads on donedeal) that are for public viewing.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

    thanks all

I think what you are looking for is an open source classifieds site.

    Have a look on:
    http://www.opensourcescripts.com/dir/PHP/Classified_Ad_Managers/

I haven't tried any of these but once built a classified section on a site - it was done from scratch as it had to link in with other stuff and didn't need to handle payments - it's not difficult - take in the registered users data and display, then have an admin side to manage users and categories. Are you looking to take payments in too?

    thanks for that fergal.

Would you know of any open source software similar to an auction site such as shiply.com?

I don't know of any off-hand but I am pretty sure there are some out there.

btw if you are thinking of doing something like shiply.com you may want to check out http://www.scurri.com

cheers, had a look on opensourcescripts and elsewhere, not sure how decent solutions are.

Its actually not the same concept as shiply just the backend setup we're looking to use is very similar

    Check out sourceforge and hotscripts

You might not find an off the shelf solution that does everything you want, but you might be able to customise something that already exists
