Will that let me get all the Freeview channels in Galway does anyone know? My bedroom faces South and I would have no problem pointing it in the same direction as neighbours sattelites.

Will I be able to clip it onto the window ledge outside my room on the second floor or will holes have to be drilled in the wall to mount it?

Totally clueless about this stuff, thanks for the help.

Waste of money.Spend a bit more and get a proper Freesat setup installed. That dish is useless for where you live,it's too small and flimsy. Also it's not freeview-thats the UK terrestrial digital service.

You will have to drill holes into the wall to mouth any type of dish. You're better off spending a bit extra and getting a proper dish/receiver.

Dont waste your Money on Lidl/Aldi kits or any cheap satellite system get a Branded Freesat system installed.http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5a/Logo_freesat.png

There goes that plan, thanks people.

While Im at it, when I eventually do get one of these installed will I be able to pick up RTEs channels on it or will I have to switch back and forth between TV for RTE/TV3/TG4 and AV/HDMI for the sat box?

RTE is not available in Freesat, and has no intention of being so, Ireland is in the middle of changing over to digital, and a lot of information is available now about the new Irish digital service.See this site (http://saorview.ie/)

A lot more info on this site: www.saortv.info. You can also read there about soarsat. A satellite that will carry the Irish channels FTA it might be possible to have the Irish channels and the English ones on the one satellite receiver using a DiSEqC switch. (And a receiver that supports it.)

But not any satellite receiver ever sold to date in Aldi or Lidl. They are all the €30 basic kind.

Avoid Aldi/Lidl sat gear for now.

+1. Their stuff like that in the centre isle seems to be flimsy / rubbish anyway, in my experience.

I would tend to disagree, I've got some good stuff from them, including the satellite gear (80cm dish) which has given me more than 3 years of great service. Introduced me to the hobby and gave me more than just the FTA on 28E. Now, with the arrival of Freesat on the scene, I would steer people towards that instead (particularly if they're enslaved to EPGs), but at the same time, I've no intention of dumping my SL-65 at least until Saorsat arrives on the scene.

The SL-65 also seems to be able to resolve a marginal signal, where any Sky receiver I've tried couldn't.

Also, I got one of their recent remote controls (a programmable black one, which has buttons that light up), and for €10, it's a great bargain, especially with the 3 year warranty.

I got one a couple of years ago, the decoder gave up after about 10 mnts the dish and cable are still working, I'm using it with a decoder card in a spare PC.

OK The decoder went but for €50/€60?

buy a 'Freesat' box or a second hand sky box, Free to air stuff is as out of date as cassette player,

Even consider "Freesat HD" or "Freesat HD" PVR, even if you don't have an HDTV.
