hi just joined the site and to be honest only looking for a bit of advice here...bought a 1.6 teg 1996 for next to nothing but after a month and driving in this snow there is a noise coming from the top of the engine...could be valves and that...dont think its the bottom end... the dillema here is will i just go to ivi in town and fork out 950 quid for a new engine fitted with 35k on it or try and find the problem for the guts of 500 quid?

I'd be of the opinion 'Better the Devil you know', I just had the top half of my Teg engine rebuilt and couldn't be happier with it tbh

IVI are fitters not mechanics, they just remove/replace
