Close Company status for PR companies

    Is is true that Public Relations companies are excluded from being Close Companies? I thought this was the case but I can't find any information to verify same....Help would be appreciated.

    It isn't really there.

    The point is that there are two surcharges - one that applies to professional income, and one that applies to the undistributed investment income of a close company. A PR company may very well be a close company and liable to pay surcharge on its undistributed investment income, but it probably isn't carrying on a profession, and so won't be liable to the surcharge on its Case 2 income.

    The OP is mixing up the two different surcharges.
