As more of FF are set to "retire", they'll all be due for their generous pensions.

I've never liked the pension system as it seems overly generous. But at least in good economic times, it looked as it could be payed for, and most people could survive on their own income.

Now, with so many people staring at hard times, considering emigrating versus the next four years of pain, the pensions system is ridiculous.

So, what can we do to change it? Have any of the opposition come up with serious proposals about this?

It's getting beyond a joke now. So apart from lobbying the opposition what else can we do?

Are they also due for redundancy payments when they lose their seats?

yes the examiner has quite a good story in that most of the ministers would be better off retiring than being in opposition, interesting that he claims he has to go and get a job, these people and the structure they have created makes me sick
JUSTICE Minister Dermot Ahern will be paid a windfall of €318,000 in the first year after retirement following his decision to step down at next year’s general election.

When he retires as minister and TD for Louth early in the new year, the 55-year-old will be paid an initial tax-free golden parachute of €177,636 as well as a pension of €140,861 in the first year. This will be followed by an annual pension worth €128,291 for the rest of his life.

Mr Ahern’s pension will be worth significantly more than what he would potentially earn as an opposition TD in the next Dáil — something that could encourage a number of other long-standing FF ministers to make similar decisions.

Those figures that these thieves pay themselves are painful to look at.
