hi im going round to pick up/ check out a second hand pc in the next few days. what would you recommend i check to see its working properly.

is there any diagnostic program i can use to check out the hardware/general condition of everything that wont take ages to run and preferably is portable.
or anything like this, other than that all i can think of doing is booting it up etc.

    any suggestions appreciated, cheers.

You can download a home edition of Everest but TBH if you need to ask then maybe you should seek out the help of a knowledgeable friend.

In general check the inside for dust etc, mainly around the fans and coolers. When running Everest check the SMART data from the hard drive in particular the running time, start up count and the error count. After that you should just get them to start the PC and leave it run all the time you are chatting, make sure that you start it and not them as you might not spot startup errors otherwise.
