Looks like a pretty challenging route even before you throw in the weather! Studded tyres on bus?? seemed to be coping very well.

ROFL. Must be the extra weight and possibly leaving out a bit of pressure on the tyres of the bus as well there. Either way, he made that look easy :D.

Yeah, but also rear engined, I know your tongue is firmly in cheek but a front engined/rear drive car would be about as useful on ice as a chocolate teapot in hell.:p

Oh yes, Cortina/Taunus, probably the least useful car in the winter conditions especially when without LSD. Lots of fun though once you get it going. Sierra incidentally was much better as it had an independent rear suspension and better weight distribution.

As of the bus: Most of the heavy vehicles have M+S tyres so at advantage on snow to most of the cars. The bus in the video is rear engined, helping it further. Up to early 80's pretty much all the buses back home were front engined and they were quite useless in the snow compared to later rear engined ones.

My bad, I assumed it was similar to mk 2 Escort. Anyway, my old teacher used to drive the German equivalent of it Taunus and we had hours of fun helping him to push his car off the school yard. They are seriously underperforming model on snow. For some reason (weigh distribution?) Sierra's miles better.

My Dad used to have a Sierra Saph Cossie for years and that was some fine winter automobile. Great driftability all around and did not bogged down that easily due to the standard LSD.
