I updated to 2.2 last night using Samsung Kies, now the phone won't work. It just hangs at the Samsung startup screen. I went into recovery mode and the following error message is coming up:

multicsc : cannot access to /system/csc/VDI/system.

Doing a factory reset does nothing either the phone still hangs.

I rang Vodafone they said ring Samsung. I rang Samsung they said to ring Vodafone.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

How long did you leave it on the Samsung startup (the logo) screen? Sometimes it can take a while for it to do whatever it needs to do.

    About 30 mins in total

Just take it into Vodafone and say they need to fix it. They'll send it to samsung.

Shouldnt cost you a penny since it is within warantee and not your fault anyway.

Bit o' hassle but better than no phone. I just hope you didnt try to root it or unlock it. Networks frown upon that and might give you grief if you want it fixed.

No, I've never tried to unroot it or anything. I've done everything by the book. I'm gonna take into vodafone later and see what they say.

Do you have an external SD card in the phone? Try taking that out and doing a factory reset.
