Vote of Confidence?

Sinn Fein seem to be having problems getting enough backing to launch a no confidence motion in the Government. Do we understand from that then that all Deputies from Fine Gael, Labour, The Greens and back bench Fianna Fail now have confidence in the Government? If so, what changed to bring about this confidence?

They dont have confidence in them, but they realize that the budget needs to go through. An election is coming next year, so if they can avoid being associated with one of the harshest budgets in recent times, then they won't rock the boat if they can help it.

Its simply procedural . . If FG/LAB thought they had a sniff of winning a no confidence vote they would be all over this. . Sinn Fein's motion is nothing more than a waste of time. .

I wonder if that could be true?

There is an Election coming soon; Why would the Independents support the Government now?

There is probably some political capital to be gained by voting against the Government now, even in Kerry.
