Just thought anyone in the west would like to know that Ballinrobe are doing a deal. First year membership of €350 gets you membership, 4 lessons of golf pro, 10 tokens for the driving range approx 350 balls, 25 euro voucher for the bar and all GUI fees.
Thats a great deal although I am a full member and pay €670 annually. No sub either. See website for details.

That's a great offer and a great course. Have played Ballinrobe a good few times and it's one of my favourites. Just looking at the website and it doesn't give any more details than you've described below, describes the offer as a new to golf membership so I wonder is there competition restrictions in place preventing you from participating/winning some of the bigger events or is it full ordinary membership. Either way it's a great offer and a good introduction to the club.

Currently looking at courses around the Dublin/Wicklow areas to join and South County have a similar novice golf membership for 600 but that contains restrictions.

sorry should of put in op that a phone number is there to call for more details. I got an email about it today but as you say there is nothing about restrictions in playing in competitions.
Sad thing is I cant afford the 670 this year and will have to give up my membership.
Yes its a great track and always in great nick.

Looking around Limerick at the moment for a deal and if I saw one like that I would jump at it...

VikingG have you seen anything decent around Limerick?

    Last time I looked...

Limerick County seems to be all put gone? Castletroy is big money to join (~€4,500) and Limerick GC even bigger (~€10000). Rathbane looks like the only reasonable option. If you are willing to travel Nenagh, Newcastle West and Bodyke are reasonable but you are talking ~45mins.

(apologies to OP for thread hijacking)

Actually I have played in Limerick County quite alot recently.... it is not that far from me and only 15 euro green fees.... however it is not GUI affiliated and I have no idea how much longer it will stay open... so it is not really an option for membership... which is a pity as I quite like the course.

Bodyke might be an option membership there is 650 Euro but I have not heard very much about it and a little awkward to get to.

But you are right about Castletroy and Limerick GC .. I am still surprised th at they are so pricey

Isn't ballykisteen only 30 mins away from limerick?

Indeed it is and also a very nice course.
Not sure of membership cost there
Very good drainage there which is vital in this country

Thanks for the offer alxmorgan.... yes it may be a while with the weather as it is!!

Ballykisteen is 1000 Euro membership and Rathbane is 545 Euro plus an extra 75 Euro for a GUI card.

Aware that the thread has been totally hijacked now....

But to the OP you can see that the offer of 350 that you have is really good.

    Ya apologies OP :)

Depending on where you live in Limerick Bodyke is either a decent trip or relatively short. You can go via Broadford or if near motorway take that to Birdhill and go via Killaloe
