    Just heard Bill Doyle has passed away , he took my favourite photograph of any Irish artist - but above all he was an absolute gent - glad i bought him those pints and met the genius that he was

    I did not meet Bill in person but have spoken to him on the phone.

    A very gifted photographer and one with strong opinions which he did not hesitate to express.

    End of an era.

    RIP Bill ..... Your images make you immortal.

    I shot a short piece with Bill this summer for a documentary on the demise of the donkey in rural Ireland. Bill's images captured the iconic status of the working donkey in Ireland. Lovely man, great stories and photos, wish I did the whole programme on him. It was on last Sunday, the repeat is on Friday 3rd Dec at 19.30 on TG4, Scread Asail.
