    Alright lads and lassies,

In college atm and am trying to eat healthily in order to increase muscle mass ( obviously working out) whilst not gaining fat.

I'm trying to integrate that eating 6 times a day mentality but it's tough being in college. Anyone know of anything beneficial i could purchase that is low in cals high in protein and sufficiently filling?

I'm pretty hungry so any suggestions are welcome.
    Cheers.

Tin of tuna knocked back with milk or water is filling.
Peanut butter. But watch out for salt content. Can get good ones in health shops.
Non salted nuts such as cashews, brazil nuts, etc.
Cook fillets of chicken and bring them with you. A small bit of tupperware is your friend.
Dry oats knocked back with water. I use this when in a hurry sometimes as it fills you for ages. The oats expand in your stomach when ate dry. Same principle with dry rice. Farmers in poorer countries do it when out in fields all day.
    Bring whey powder with you.
Also scrambled eggs can be ate cold.

When i was in college i used to bring stuff with me all the time. Throw the food into small plastic containers and wrap up so there was no smell.

You could make beef biltong or jerky. I make biltong in a very low fan oven (with door slightly ajar to let moisture out). I got 2kg of very lean meat (round steak I think), cleaned off any fat and connective tissue. Cut long half inch strips (along the grain). Cover in salt and spices (roasted corriander seeds are traditional, I added smoked paprika), leave to marinate. Wash off spice and excess salt in vinegar (Malt or cider). I put the strips of beef on bits of wooden kebab skewer and hung them from the top shelf of the oven. making sure they weren't touching. Took about twelve hours in a very low oven. I covered the biltong, individually, in grease proof paper and left in a cool dry place. This way they continue to slowly dry, (tupperware will make it spoil quicker). Don't know how long it would remain good to eat; Ive never had any left after two weeks. Very dense and filling, very high in protein, low in fat and satisfying.

    Cheers guys!

Settled for one of those elevenses raisin bakes in the end. Not great i know but was caught out.

Will bring whey powder with me tomorrow. Must also remember to try those beef skewers. They sound amazing!

Btw, if i'm trying to increase my muscle mass whilst losing/maintaining a low body fat percentage, is it wise to mix the whey with milk or is that chancing fate?

Only 90c for a 300g tub of cottage cheese from tesco. Can't go wrong.

You don't need to eat 6 meals a day (or 8 or 3 for that matter). Eat however many you want/ as long as you end up with a 200-300 calorie surplus at the end of the day. This is a so called 'clean bulk', in which you'll put on minimal amount of fat along with the muscle.

And you don't have to eat 'healthy', 'clean' all the time. If you manage it 80% of the time you'd be doing great.

In order of decreasing importance for your desired clean bulking:

    1,2 - Total calories eaten = total calories burned + 200:300
1,2 - train hard in the gym using an adequate program
3 - eat 1g protein per pound LBM (can be a bit less if bulking, if you eat carbs, they are protein sparing).

    ...

99 - eat 'clean', 'healthy' etc
