Just wondering would cold weather have a dramatic effect on ones basal metabolic rate BMR if they are out in the cold most of the time? Im eating like a horse at the moment the cold has increased my hunger.

Yeah I have been constantly hungry the last week or two because of the weather. The difference in how many calories you burn in cold weather then warm weather is meant to be minimal though so I woulnd't say its purely to do with that.

There was some research recently that exposure to cold temperatures activates brown fat stores and that may result in more calories being burned

"But researchers caution that while mice lose weight if they activate brown fat, it is not clear that people would shed pounds — they might unwittingly eat more, for example. The data on global patterns of obesity are not good enough to say whether living in a cold climate makes people thinner."

In theory, being in the cold raises your BMR as your needs to burn more calors to keep your core temp up. But in reality, its prob such a small amount that its not worth even thinking about
