Turning off sky and I have 2 questions

    1. How can I tune in the 4 irish channels ( 10.744 H 22.0 5/6 for TG4 I think )

    2. Can I move the ITV's etc from Other Channels into Favorites - I currently have to hit other channels each time I want to watch an ITV or BBC 3/4

Basically I would like to hit the blue button on the sky remote and have all available channels there for me

    thanks

Oh - Based in Galway in , Maghera transmitter I think

Well I know your bbc's and itv's will appear in your main guide alright. You can test what the freeview will be like by plugging out the sky box for a few minutes and remove the viewing card. Then plug it back in. You should now have bbc1 as your 101 channel. Not sure if there is a way to tune the Irish stations though.

SaorSat is a completely different animal. It runs on a different frequency (so you can't use your regular Sky box), and is in a different location in the sky. I don't know if you'll need a second dish or if it's possible to have the one dish pick up both signals (if you need a second dish, technically you'll also need planning permission as only one dish is allowed without it).

A sky box can't do Saorsat. Some "Freesat HD" Tvs and boxes can, but with a different feed.

RTE is only ever going to be part of Pay TV (encrypted) on Sky, as the signal on best (tightest) beam can be received not just over all of UK, but 1/2 of Western Europe. Even "home produced" content (Proposed RTE International) will be x2 to x4 more expensive on that and imported content would be x10 to x20 more expensive or unavailable.

You can't put "other channels" stations in Favourites, only EPG stations.

A Sky box is really only any use for 28.2E Sky/Freesat signals. No satellite feed switching included. Also even if it was simple to use Sky box on non-Sky source Satellite, only a Sky HD box would be able to "tune" the signals. Also likely the Sky HD box doesn't allow the Saorsat Symbol rates.

Good "Freesat HD" gear allows "satellite switching" on "other channels" and also any symbol rate and is compatible with Saorsat signals and Saorsat MHEG5 (Sky use OpenTV instead).

Saorsat + freesat (or Sky) can be done with a Multifeed dish

This can be arranged to feed a Sky box and a "Freesat HD" box or TV, or even up to 8 PVRs, or even 1000 rooms.

This can be installed as a second "dish" for Saorsat

As it's about 45cm, has no arm, doesn't look like a dish and is similar style to a Wireless Broadband "Radio" it won't fall foul of 2nd dish rule. Nowhere counts MMDS dishes as Dishes.
