    Hi all,
So after 100 years together (ok 12!) we've decided to finally get married in 2011! We want a civil ceremony and a meal for approx.20 guests. Really we just want to get married, have a nice meal and no fuss, but I dont want it to look cheap and scaldy! Just wondering if anybody has any suggestions? Thing is I've never been to a wedding (!!) I just know I dont want a whole lot of fuss. So heres what I need to know off the top of my head:

    1. Is Sir Patrick Duns Civil Office in Dublin a nice place? (Anyone got photos or know where I might get some??)
    2. If we go here, where would be nice to go for a meal afterwards that would make the day special?
    3. Kinda like the idea of a hotel, is there any that would accomodate such a small group - and if so can you arrange to have the ceremony there aswell?
    4. Living in Louth at the moment - anybody any ideas for somewhere up here?

I'm trying to keep this a secret from my family until I have it all arranged so Im a bit limited with regards to who I can ask this stuff of incase it gets back to them!
Any other help or information is reeeeally appreciated!

    Cheers!

Can not really help you as I am not familiar with Dublin but I do know you can get hotels with small rooms that will cater for you. It may just take a bit of research.
Try weddingsonline.ie - you may be more successful posting there as it is full of brides!!
Good luck with the planning. I am at the same stage & finding it overwhelming!!

You could try the Schoolhouse Hotel, on Northumberland Road, nice and intimate and close to the Registry Office.

Lovely little hotel in Drogheda called Scholars. Would be perfect for small wedding as you described.

Have a look at this place, I have been to two wedings there. on was c. 40 people. Amazing setting, spectacular food.

I have eaten there several times and brought friends there from Greece, the UK and the States and it never fails to impress. And to be fair its quitre reasonably priced

We had a tiny wedding (16 people) - we just used a section of a restaurant. The guests had the choice of the a-la-carte or set menu - it worked out well and our guests had more food choices than we would have otherwise. The one thing that we splashed out on was a very nice expensive cake but that is just my personality :D

Have to recommend Fallon & Byrne in Dublin city centre for this. I'm a photographer, and did a wedding here last May. They had the civil ceremony here, and rented a function room at the Stag's Head Pub for the time in between the ceremony and the meal when they were getting pictures done. The food at F&B is out of this world unique and delicious. No beef or salmon meals here! Your guests and yourselves will love it! PM me if you're interested in more details.
