There have been a couple of chefs(that bloke with the long name from River Cottage) extolling the virtues of eating roadkill, how does the law in Ireland sit with claiming road kill? If its a wild animal is it finders keepers?

I am guessing that domesticated animals like cats and dogs plus farm yard animals are still the property of the owner even when a tyre pancake.

Say in theory if I was driving around Wicklow and hit a wild deer can I claim the carcass?
