pity you didn't get a shot at them.
any ideas on what call to use?
will the trusty rabbit distress be good enough?

Few years back was out after rabbits following 3 days of hard frost !! Caught a few rabbits in the middle of a field, one of them gave a hell of a squeal before being dispatched. Shone the light round the field and counted 7 pairs of eyes

Went on a bit and saw a rabbit in the next field, slipped dog through the fence, catches rabbit and as its coming back towards me fox runs in from corner of the field face to face with the lurcher !! They both stare at eachother for a second, lurcher drops rabbit and chases fox, rabbit runs off unharmed, cant say the same for the fox though :D

One of those times you wish you had a camera !!
