Is there any party that are capable of bringing the Irish people some sort of direct democracy...

Ive heard Sinn Fein and the ULA are the only two parties out on the left. Does this mean we can expect drug decriminalisation and legal prostatution if they get in... :pac: Are they capable of pulling the finger out of Irish politics and ripping up this absurd 2.30am rule...what party is going to turn this place on its head and bring us into the 21st century....

    Fill me in.

How can anyone take the labour party serious when the best they can come up with is a friggin bartender in Donegal who was unlucky enough to get tv exposure.....how in the name of god does that make McBrearty suitable for office???????????

Is that really the best labour can do.

What’s wrong with these? Doing so would drastically cut major sources of revenue for criminal gangs, would make it much easier for addicts to get help and even be a boon for taxes.

Legalisation of drugs and prostitution is not necessarily a left-wing policy. It's present across the political spectrum. And the ole Shinners actually have a wee history of shooting certain drug 'advocates' in the knees.

To be honest, I would welcome a libertarian government but a 'left-wing' government would entail lots of nasty stuff in terms of slowly depressing the economy and redistributing my private property (i.e. my money). By international standards, all of our parties are either left of centre or left wing. A socially liberal, economically right wing party is what I would like to see (libertarianism).

Well is there any Libertarian governments in this country...

    Not to my knowledge.

Every first world country on Earth have this option. The Canadians, the British; even in the U.S, the Libertarians are the third biggest party after the republicans and Democrats.

When will Ireland get rid of this dinosaur mentality...

It's a bit ridiculous alright. We have a very unusual party system in the 26 counties.
