Sound to Visuals - Laptop?

    Hi Folks,

Currently looking at setting up a gig and the venue has a projector system that is rarely used. I have an old laptop and I was thinking are there any programs to take sound and output visuals? I won't need the laptop for anything, so if I can just plug it in to put out some random visuals that would be great.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    ironclaw.

Thats a cool idea. Might have a read over the Xmas holidays. DVD is an option, but I have nothing to hand.

This: http://www.soundspectrum.com/g-force/ is probably the closest to what I'm looking for but at €25 its abit of a punt.

It's not that difficult to be honest - if you do decide to get yourself up and running check out http://openprocessing.org There's loads of sourcecode free to use, and it's very easy to mod it to react to a microphone input. You can analyse the waveform's amplitude and draw it to a screen, or you can check the frequency spectrum in a tune in real time etc etc - so you can just concentrate on playing your music while the laptop is working away doing something pretty in the background ;)
