Hello Boys!! I want to buy my boyfriend a beard/stubble shaver thingy to maintain his stubble. There are so many on the market I don't know where to start. I was thinking of the Phillips 9 in 1 but wanted to hear some reviews first....also does it give you a clean shave as well as stubble??

There is actually a stubble trimmer available from argos and the likes ...its a like a beard trimmer but I think it may have more attachments??

Was going to get it for my brother, he looks like a child when he shaves

Hya Jellybeans. I moved your post over to this forum where the advice is second to none.

thank you and thanks for being so polite!! I have had a recent bad experience with another Irish forum, the moderator was beyond rude and although it's only cyber space it really upset me!!

Ye the Phillips 9 in 1 is in Argos, there are pages of them  so confusing. I was hoping to get a recommendation actually....or a review of the 9 in 1, it seems quite cheap so it could be rubbish??

Is this the product you are referring to >> link
I got it last Christmas and I've been using it since. Generally I would use it every 2 or 3 days to trim the stubble on my face and only takes a minute or two. There are some handy attachments for trimming side-burns and nasal hair and they are all very easy to fit and use. I find the battery lasts quite a while also. Cleaning is easy and Philips claim that there is no need for oil to lubricate the blades (After almost one year of use, the blades still work perfectly and seem to be still as sharp). :)

I've never used any other hair trimmer that's available in the shops so I don't know how the Philips 9-in-1 compares. Boots have a good selection of hair trimmers so you could have a look there, even just to compare prices to Argos.

excellent thats what I wanted to hear :) do you use the hair trimmer also? my boyfriend has a shaved head so will probably use this for that too. So are there a few different lengths you can shave the stubble to?? oh and last question can it give you a clean shave too or is it just for stubble? thanks so much :)

I don't really use the hair trimmer for my head :) but I would guess that it would be ok for using it on shaved heads (i.e. for trimming a small amount off a shaved head rather than using it on someone with long hair!). The blades might get clogged pretty quickly if you were trying to shave alot at one time.

There are a few different attachments that you can clip on to the trimmers which have 7 or 8 different lengths than you can trim the stubble to. I like to keep my stubble short so I generally don't use an attachment on the trimmer.

There is an attachment for doing a clean shave. But it is pretty small so if you were trying to do a clean shave all over your face then it would take a while.

    Hope this helps!

hiya I was in boots the other day and was just about to buy the 9 in 1 but backed down coz the head on it seemed so small...I was looking at the attachment for a full shave and it's absolutely tiny!!! I thought this might not be good, does it matter?

yeah the electric shaver attachment to do a full shave is pretty small. For that reason, I use a razor blade if I am doing a full shave rather than use the attachment. It's one of the worst features of the 9-in-1 trimmer but I suppose it's designed for people who have beards/stubble and who wouldn't be doing a full shave too often.
