    Philips 46pfl7605

    Sony KDL46 EX 503

Any views of either of these 46" sets. Sony have offer "VAT back" discount & five year warranty, at about Eu1100, the Philips is more expensive ( not sure of the price yet) but its probably a better looking set.

I would prefer buy in a shopfront in Dublin as otherwise if we all buy on line then we will have no shops in a year or so....
    Thanks

I reckon you could find the Sony in a Sony Centre???:D
I'm looking around too, plenty of Sony and Philips in Power City. DID do Philips but not much Sony. I was in Peats, they had Sony but not Philips. Haven't been to a Harvey Norman yet, or Currys.

    Harven Norman have both.
Bottom line is Sony is about 1,000, Philips closer to 1,500 both with 5 years warranty.
But the Phillips package just looks soooo much better with the "steel" surrond.
The Sony I think looks worse that our 4 year old Sony Bravia. The black plastic on the EX503 is only OK for a moden home. Probably their higher end models are more comparable.
Picture on both appears execellent to my eyes...

We purchased the Phillips in the Dame St Phillips shop on Saturday and so far it is excellent. A huge change from a 40" 2006 Sony Bravia, even without upgrading to SkyHD. So on the same source there is a depth & detail to the image that really surprised us.
Cosmetically (for our home...) the Phillips is way ahead of the black-gass Sony, so we are fully happy with the decision. The webaccess & YouTube access on the TV works really and is a real bonus, I did not think this would be any use.
I do not work for or am not in any way connected with Phillips or the Dame s shop... but might be open to bribery
