    Did you:

    i) go on 3 or even 1 foreign holidays per annum during the boom years?

ii) buy a new car with finance?

    iii) flip properties

    iv) buy to let property

    v) run up a credit card bill you didnt pay off even though Eddie Hobbs was telling us not to in '05

If the answer is no to all of the above, join me in my new enclave. I propose to buy the D4 hotels group for about 5euro and create a new state called Frugaland. Are you with me my fellow hobbits?

I still do that now, its called saving and controlling what you spend, if anyone thinks people arent entitled to spend money on a holiday these days just because other people are up to their eyeballs in debt they can fuck right off.

we went on 1 foreign holiday last year,

we saved for months for it, we don't smoke, we rarely drink, saving money isn't a big issue for us! and i hate begrudgers who come out with comments like the above without knowing a person's personal circumstances!

we have no loans, no credit cards, no mortgage....just savings, which pay for expensive things we like to splash out on now and then!

People can save money by eating the food they buy and not throwing it away.

I've never been on foreign holiday for more than a week. Last one was in 2008. I don't buy things coz others have them. I just work away and indulge my hobby which is collecting books and beers and fountain pens (weird, I know). I'm a jeans and t-shirt guy....but me missus likes shoes, so feck it. She gets her tarty strappy sandals every couple of months

Is this the thread where I'm supposed to feel bad about making hay while the sun shined? My mistake, sorry. Should I have waited till it was constant darkness to sunbathe? Sounds a little uncomfortable to be honest...... Sounds like I would have been cold if I did that. I don't like being cold....mostly.
