if it's like most other r/h bolts hold the front part tightly in your left hand and twist the bolt handle anti clockwise with yer right

    + 1 to landkeeper.

The bolt has de-cocked. Grab the "shaft" of the bolt and turn either the bolt handle or shroud on the back of the bolt, with a bit of pressure, and it will re-cock the bolt.

If it is like a sako, your dealer may have a piece of plastic that came with the rifle, that cup's the bolt so you can twist it easily

I remember seeing a styer bolt that came apart and took a lot of fellas at least 45 mins to figure it out.

Normally it's a case of twisting and pushing forward almost at the same time.

    LK and Eri sounds right.
I have a Plastic tool that came with my old sako that I could take the bolt apart with.

I'm "assuming" that Tikka are the same

Soft piece of timber also works. Happened me the last day with my Sako, have an old desk I do be messing about on, soldering etc, edge of that done the job.

Fella I know has a styer, same as paulo 6.5 on here... Same thing happened so he took it back to a certain dealer who reckoned he knew what he was at.. Now he can put the bolt back together..
If only this thread came up a few days earlier I could have saved him an awful lot of hassle!

i take the bolt out of the steyr when i'v bin out in the rain and give it a wipe.
it comes apart and goes back together real easy

i tried to do it with the tikka bolt once and i found very hard to put it back. l had to get a lad to hold one end while i twisted the boltback to the open position. i'm sure there is a nack to it;)
the nack being the piece of plastic that i always wondered what was that for

    Sounds like this

Not sure if the pic will open, I'm not using my own PC and it's opening in Paint for me.

did something similar to my CZ as well, if you twist the bolt when its out of the gun you can take it out of alignment, and it can take a lot of effort to straighten it back had me worried for a bit when I did it first thought i'd broken it
