    A political party who:

-Are not constricted by the limited gene pool or the buddyisms of FF or FG
-Could be considered in some way liberal-left
-despite being left, see sense and do not out of hand reject every pay or job cut proposed
-Have the balls and the morality to cut their own, and other top level public wages
-Can at least offer one of the following
    a) a some way clear alternative to bailing out the banks
    b) a long term, good justification for bailing out the banks
    c) A two line sentence, without lying, how what they do in the present, will make things better in the future.
-Inspire confidence in the fact that they are smarter and more progressive than me.

    Does such a party exist?
I would like to support it.

Labour would be the closest party to that, but many feel that they havn't offered any viable alternate policies to the public yet. But they would certainly be the closest party to what you want.

Some of the independents e.g. Maureen O'Sullivan, but of course she is not a party as such.

Labour are the closest, the United Left Alliance or whatever they call themselves and Sinn Feinn would be similar except that they probably wouldn't cut any public sector pay or welfare.

However, they might be inclined to remove all the FF cronies who are paid massive salaries. In fact, I would imagine that all of the left wing parties would have no problem slashing quangoes and cutting the pay of the political appointees.

Labour are the closest to the liberal left ideal you are looking for I think. On some of the other points, they've yet to show their true colours in Government yet.

I forgot about the United Left Alliance. I think they are planning on running 20 canditates across the country.
Again, relatively close to what your looking for, although they'll be lucky to get more than two of their members elected

Not really, what he has described is effectively moderate leftist. The ULA are hard left by any definition of the term.
