Ebay item stopped working - what are my rights?

I purchased a power supply for a laptop on ebay last week and this week it has stopped working - do I have any consumer rights at all?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Where did it come from? If Hong Kong, count yourself lucky it didn't explode and burn your house down. Practically all the power supplies that come from HK are of dangerously poor quality.

You can start a dispute on eBay or Paypal, and see where it goes. You'll be expected to pay for the return shipping, by registered post.

+1 I design high power electrical devices, one of my designs was copied in the far east and was sold in the UK & here, I have seen them in retail shops here being used (not sold). We got our hands on one, it has the CE marks etc but the wiring is well below standard and cannot legally be sold here (besides it being counterfeit), the wiring was too thin and could have started a fire.

Somebody else posted this a while ago.
