    Hi,

Anybody know if the Digivox-t can be used to pick up RTE’s Digital transmissions?

This is the type of box that could have been used historically as a Chorus MMDS decoder.

I set the box to the default factory setting but I can only scan channels 1 – 15. I need to scan channels >= 39 for the DTT
Is there an image available to flash this box so it can be used ?

I am initially just testing to see if DTT is available (Laois / Kilkenny border)

    Cheers

Yea I was wondering about that, I am sure I saw somewhere that saorsat was MPEG 4 but then this document (Minimum Receiver Requirements) made me think it maybe should work !!

    http://www.rtenl.ie/downloads/irish_dtt_%20receiver%20spec_public.pdf

    "1. Introduction
    1.1. Scope
This document specifies the minimum technical receiver requirement for reception of Standard
Definition Television (SDTV) services, High Definition Television (HDTV) services and ancillary data
services, from the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) transmission network in Ireland. The
receiver, hereafter denoted as an Integrated Receiver Decoder (IRD), may be a Set Top Box (STB)
or Integrated Digital Television (IDTV). The IRD shall be DVB compliant, and shall be able to
receive MPEG 2 Transport Streams from a DVB-T modulated signal, decode the services within that
transport stream including all video, audio, data, and subtitling services."

    cheers

The MPEG 2 standard detailed how the video was transmitted and stuff like that, the "MPEG4" that's referred to around here, is an extension of the MPEG2 standards that only apply to the video aspect of the entire digital transmission. The "Transport Stream" is part of the system under the bonnet that delivers digital TV.

Agreed. They were crap when they came out freqs had to be put in manualy as it wont scan above a certain freq. the box will recieve the audio and radio only. So only good for keeping the door open.

    Get yourself a nice combo.
