    hi... my girlfriend of many years has just broke up with me.. we have been on and off for a while but this time it seesm its for real. i know everybody says it but i just cant function..

    Breaking up is always tough and chances are you will feel like sh*t for a while. There is no way to bypass this phase, you just have to grit your teeth and struggle on regardless. Keep busy!! Ever hear the phrase "fake it til you make it"? That's what you have to do - sleep, get up, shower, stick a smile on your face, hold your head up and face tomorrow....and the day after....and the day after. Also make sure to talk to friends. After my ex dumped me I'd say I drove my friends mental eventually talking and talking and talking about it and analysing everything. Definately helped for me.
    Retail therapy helps a lot as well :) Nothing like buying new things that are just for you to cheer you up! :p I know that sounds incredibly shallow (like shopping is going to solve anything right?) but for me even something as small as putting on new lipstick that had no links to the ex (as in I wasn't thinking that the last time I put whatever particular gloss on, I was standing in front of the bathroom mirror in his house while he was complaining about the amount of makeup I had fired around the place) felt great. Anyways I'm digressing, sorry.

    Maybe I'm just reading your post negatively, maybe it's just another off patch and you'll work it out?
