According to this article the EU/IMF team are investigating ways for the holders of Irish bank Bonds to contribute to the bailout either by investing in the banks at hand or by accepting shares in these bank. This has the potential to significantly reduce the amount of debt we as a nation are liable for.

Now does anyone else find it strange that the EU/IMF are pushing this issue while our own government wants to pay everyone back in full? Should it not be the other way around? Why does our governemnt seem intent on pushing us to the brink of bankruptcy?

I think it would be easier for us as a people if it was the other way around. We could blame an outside force on our destruction. It is becoming more and more obvious that it is not the sinister force of a new reich planning our demise, it is coming from the enemy within and always was

Sounds like the stigma of defaulting might be causing the concern. For the next 100years FF will be told that they caused this crisis and they defaulted.
