    Hi,

I'll keep this short. My insurance renewal with Aviva is 850 euro (fully comp on a 2.2 diesel).

I paid 750 last year for the exact same policy.
Now I'm aware the prices have gone up nationally.

I tried FBD, Quinn, Tesco, 123, No-nonense, brennons, axa, AA, brokers etc but the price is still high.

I've 6 yrs NCB, so I was thinking I'll either go for fully comp or..... the bearly leagal third party? i.e. All or nothing. But even the bearly legal cover is pricy!

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Shop around, ring every ins co and a good selection of brokers. Remember that they're open to varying degrees of bargaining. Re the comp/TPF&T thing, it really depends on the car value & difference in premium. For comparison make sure that the policies are otherwise identical.

Finally, I get a 30% discount with Aviva for an IAM license - might be worth considering.

Theres nothing "barely legal" about third party; its completely legal, it just means that only the other party is covered in the event of an accident.

Has something happened in the past year that might warrant your policy increasing, ie more penalty points or something like that? If not then keep ringing around; Id be surprised if you dont find someone wholl at least match last years price.

I have been shopping around for close to a month now.. my insurance has gone up by over €100 to €580 for no reason..

Try Bestquote.ie.. I went through them and got a quote with RSA, decent as far as other quotes I've been getting but still higher than last year..

    Decent benefits too:
    • Fully Comphensive Cover
    • Fully Comphensive Driving of other Cars
    • Windscreen Cover
    • Breakdown Assistance including Emergency overnight Accomadation
    • Replacement or Reprogramming of Car Keys
    • Replacement Sat Nav Equipment or Games Consoles that is permanently fixed to Car
    • Full no claims Bonus protection
    • Medical Expenses
    • Legal Expenses

Might be worth a try.. but its hit and miss out there to be honest, no consistancy at all with Insurance companies and their quotes.. one place quoted me €1580 ffs!!!
