During the by-election in Donegal some people were getting text mesages on wednesday, thats the day which is supposed to have a moritorium on broadcasting or media for the candidates, does anyone here have a definitive answer to whether or not it is legal or appropriate to use texts on that day? Im not usually on this…

The moritorium only applies to the broadcast media i.e. radio and television.

The texts are exempted under the data protection act as they are for election purposes.
