So were starting a bouncy castle biz in my house! it will be up and running just in time for next spring. We've pretty much covered everything at this stage ie. the castles, the van, the PL insurance, all of that. What we cant seem to manage, is what to call it. Were based in the west, so 'West Coast Castles' is the front runner at the moment. i think its a go name, but would like to know from the general boards public out there what you think?(mini market research) does it sound good? silly? or just plain weird. I think its very important to get the name right, possibly, its the most important part of the puzzle. Also feel free to drop any suggestions for a name yourselves. thanks in advance. :)

Highly advise against West Coast Castles. Sounds too like West Coast Cooler, and people will have a negative connotations linking kids to alcohol.

I'd suggest keeping it really simple, Budget Bouncing Castles would be my suggestion.

Keep it simple - What about 'Jumps'

    Or 'Jumps Castles'

I think Ronan is over-analysing way too much. West Coast Castles and West Coast Cooler are sufficiently distant in my opinion, unless you are advertising in a bar or something. I really can't see parents dismissing you on the basis of that name because it makes them think of their 8 year old getting drunk and pregnant behind your inflatable towers! Now, if you were thinking of Kiddie Craic or something, then I think a rethink would be in order, but if you're dead set on WCC, go for it.

That said, I think you'd be better off going with

"Mr Kelly's Fully Licensed And Insured Inflatables Which You Can Hire By The Hour In Exchange For Cash So Your Children Can Jump On Them And We Have A Van Ltd."

    ... it's much much catchier.

Seriously man, WCC is so dull. Be fun. I suggest "Boing Boing!". It's fun, active, and has some cachet.

Or if you've been reading a load of Sunday Times published books and are convinced you must include the location in the name, "Western Jump" or something.

Get some action in there. Make it sound like a fun thing you're selling!

    Good luck.

like the honesty! i wouldnt say im dead set on WCC at all. Like i said before, the name is very important to get right. Boards is a great way of getting some kind of public opinion, and i am now very happy i decided to put this thread up because WCC doesnt seem to be going down well. 'sunday times published books'? im not even into my thirtees yet!:D

    Id go with costal castles!

Or alternatively, look at the yellow pages for your areas and get ideas from that.

You'd want to have a name asap and start getting it out there. Booking are taking place for April - May 2011 already for communions here down south!

+1 on this -people immediatly link a name to the nearest sounding catch phrase , bearing in mind it can work good ,and is used extensivly in marketing ,but has to be right and positive

'bouncing buddies' makes me think of a lady jogging without a sports bra -
    see how it works ?

That was my line of immediate reaction too. Perhaps it suggests an alternative more adult market that could be tapped.

    Hi again!

Yeah I'm in the game myself now a few years.
Don't think that these conditions have had a major impact on sales. Think of it this way; your providing an excellent service at an excellent price. Compare it to previous years where parents would take 20 kids to monkey maze, or chukies (kids activity centre) and pay €15pp for food for 3 hrs!!

You provide a clean 20ft castle with9ft slide for the day got 150 and collect that night! They cook their own hot food n they're saving already! They get get great value for their money plus it's in the comfort of their own home! The recession has encouraged ppl to cater for birthdays, communions christenings in their own home as opposed to paying huge sums to a company.

Hey! thanks for the reply. im glad to hear the above, puts me at ease a little. if you dont mind me asking one more thing, but what happens regards the revenue boys? Do we still have to register with them, even though we probably wont be hitting the E37500(i wish) a year mark? I find that side of things starts to get confusing when i go looking into it, and a little bit boring too.:)

its so funny to find this in my email inbox just now, today of all days, weird! i just started hiring out today, it is now offically up and running. ive already got e480 worth of bookings for may in the last 8-10 hours!:D if you are starting up my advice is to go with the slides, they are very popular it seems, from my experience today (all one day of it). the slide i have is the e480 worth of bookings! Go for it i say and best of luck!:)
