HI i am just wondering if scrappage and salvage companies give you money for scrapping your car or do you have to pay them?
I have a 99 Clio but the timing belt has gone on it. Somebody told me they would give me about €300 for it and then i heard from another person that i would have to pay them to take it...can somebody please clarify this for me please???
    Thanks.

I scrapped a car at a breakers in Meath last weekend and they paid me 120 quid for it (paid by weight for the metal - 100 per ton). They offered a free collection service and issued the Destruction cert too.

Don't think they will give you very much for it, if you drove it to them. If they have to send out a recovery truck to collect it I'd imagine they would charge you but best thing to do is ring around a few places and see what they say.

    Thanks for replies!

I think the best thing i can do is just ring and ask the company and see what they say? i suppose different companies will have different policies anyway?
