Laptop to LG TV

    Hi all,

I am looking to connect a laptop to an LG 26" (Model 3-100 ZA BEKMLG). I had a look at the back of the TV and saw that it has a USB service port. There is no need for sound, just a PowerPoint presentation, on repeat.

Can I connect a standard USB to USB to this port?
    • If yes, where would I pick up a USB to USB connector and how much should it cost (Dublin based)?
    • If no, what do I need to use to connect to the TV? USB - RGB?
    Second question.

Is there any particular laptop that you would use to connect to this TV?

I have access to a F-model Viao (XP), a Dell Precision (XP), a Dell Inspiron (Vista) and a Samsung N140 (Win 7). Which would be best to use?

    All replies gratefully accepted.

    Many thanks,

    Clauric

No, you can't use the USB port! You can use either a standard vga dsub from any laptop or better yet a HDMI lead from the newer ones. It really is a case of what lead you can get your hands on. BTW the hdmi will do sound and video while the vga will only do video. From experience I would recommend having the laptop turned on before you turn on the TV and the signal going through the lead (usually ALT + F4 but different on each laptop) It just makes life easier.
