    Hi,

Why is everyone panicking about the budget which is only going to be six billion in cuts?!

Shouldn't everyone be looking at the grander scale of things like the interest that we will have to pay on this 'loan' from the IMF/EU, and the bailout of the banks.

6 billion is nothing when you look at what will have to be paid back over the coming years... The interest alone on this bailout loan is more than 6 billion.

The country is bankrupt and I don't see how we are going to pay back this bailout loan anytime soon....

People ARE worrying about the so-called bailout.

It's possible to be worried about two bad events at the same time.

Go on the march on Saturday. It might make you feel better. Let the government know what YOU'RE upset about. Be assured they'll be watching.

    Sh!tting themselves, but also watching.

people are worrying about the budget because that was todays bad news. We have lots of things to worry about and you're bang on about the bailout but i think taking things one at a time would be better for everyone's stress levels.

I disagree, they will be sitting on their thrones in their fortress that they created for themselves,With their arrogant ignorant pompous condescending attitudes to prop up their backs with their private police force. Not giving a damn about anyone. They have already protected each other and themselves. And they do not lose no matter what happens they are financially secure.

Trust me, they're sh!tting themselves. You can't stay indoors forever. I understand all police and military leave has been cancelled for budget day. Probably for Saturday too. They're sh!tting themselves alright.

It's all very well being rich, but if you can't leave your house without abuse? And what if the next crowd decide to put you on trial for corruption? That would make more than a few of them sweat through sleepless nights.

Don't underestimate your power here. YOU have the power. Use it. Go out, take action, let them hear your voice.

I wish you were right but been honest i see Irish as Tired and without any back bone and willing to take it where they are given it.There is not enough people who are willing to stand up for themselves in this country anymore. They got old or died and the small few who will will be brushed off like yesterdays sneeze.

Cowen etc..are secure with their pensions for life, their reputation is damagned beyond repair though..

I still can't believe that Cowen said he wasn't in discussions with the IMF/EU over a bailout and the following day he makes that announcement which got cut by RTE.

The whole public sector needs to be restructered their is too many pencil pushers working there. My main worry is how are we meant to pay this bailout loan with no money?

The future of this country for the long term future is destroyed over Fianna Fail and Banker lies..stating the obvious here!

I know how you feel. We have two options feel sorry for ourselves or go out there and do something. Get involved. Start with the march on Saturday, its gone beyond the public v private thing now we have to save our country. There are plenty of smart people willing to fight for this country.

I've always found the 'fighting Irish' tag to be not offensive but entirely inaccurate. Few nations are more docile.

But we have a chance to show backbone like the Icelanders to the elite running our country for their own benefit.

This is the chance, possibly the only one. No deal has yet been struck. Let's get out on Saturday in our hundreds of thousands and show that any deal done between Fianna Fail and the IMF has no mandate from the people.

    Yes you could be right.

Irish people(only the few rich ones) will become tenants in their own country.

Ireland is now ripe for the picking by "cashed-up" people from other EU countries who will pick the guts out of Ireland, because they can. Then jack the price of rent and property values up so high that the Irish people will not be able to afford to live in Ireland.

It is not 6 billion in cuts. There are colossal tax increases.
    This is what is worrying.

The government had to bite the bullet today and reform spending.
    Or face armageddon.

    They have chosen armageddon.

I'm not worried about Ireland defaulting anymore because 'I believe' it is a certainty now and you cannot change a certainty.

My honest opinion is that it's probably time for people to stop worrying about the country now and start looking for better countries to go to.

Only thing i seeing smart people do is protect their own interests and moan about everyone else.Irish have become a selfish self centered race, and those who are smart enough or not smart enough will be swatted away like flies, by Government.
You have no power no one has, they have all the cards they say what happens in this country and no amount of protests is going to change that.

No the fighting Irish was depicted for the past. The generations who got up and protested against the pension cuts of the older generation is what is left of those people. There is the odd few who are still around in the younger generations. The middle generations only small few aswell.
The rest lay down and take what they are getting, whinge about in their homes or on internet. But not do anything.
I will protest but alas i feel falling on people who dont give a damn they are safe no matter what.If they cared about their reputations they wouldnt have been doing what they have.

Its been happening for years, and now it is open season on Ireland.
I would say war would happen before that will happen again here.
