I have a holiday booked in February - Flying into Bangkok, flying home from Kuala Lumpur.

At the moment I'm looking at sorting an itinerary out.

My question is - should I split my holiday time between the 2 countries 50/50? Or do you guys think one country has more to offer than the other?

    Cheers.

It all depends how long you have?

I'd favor Central to Northern Thailand.

By all accounts the west of Malaysia is amazing but I cant comment on it. I did venture to Borneo which was amazing and to the Perhentian Islands in north east Malaysia. The people in Malaysia really stare at you. Sometimes its uncomfortable. My girlfriend felt very uneasy with the staring and she had covered up very well. Not a reason to not visit a country but just an observation. You could make direct eye contact with the person staring at you and it wouldn't knock them off at all.

    Thailand all the way.

Go to 'Hollywood Niteclub' in Patong, Phukett - definately worth it.

Honestly I'd stay in Thailand if you only have that amount of time. 2 weeks traveling from Bangkok to Chiang Mai & Pai will be far more adventurous and fun than hitting the beaches(boring). You could get a relatively cheap flight back to Bangkok and then on to Kuala Lumpur and spend a day or two there.

The other option is to forget about Thailand a get a train to Malaysia, perhaps stopping off somewhere along the line for a few days in southern Thailand. Then make your way to the Cameron Highlands, Penang, KL. Enjoy what ever you do.

For two weeks you really should make up your mind and pick one.

Thailand is more holiday place, trekking, beaches etc.

Malaysia is quieter, more chilled out, still lots of nice untouristy places to hike, lie on the beach.

    Depends what you're into really.
