NCT out of date and guards do nothing?

My car's NCT is 4 months out of date and i have been stopped twice in the last week at checkpoints where they looked at all my disks and waved me on. The second checkpoint was a young guard who are known to be tough to make a name for themselves said all good, go on. I said do you want to see my booking letter for the test and he said no. I thought they had gone very strict on this. Why did the not bother about the NCT?

Had to go to a Garda station today to get something signed, the two guards there were in their 20s and had a good chat with them. They are completely disillusioned with the job and said if they didn't have to police the march on Saturday they would be in it.

Got read the riot act form a guard recently in relatoin to mine. It was less than a month overdue and I had no idea it was required not the best with these kind of things.

Had to produce my NCT receipt and Insurance not sure why down the cop shop withing 10 days. Car breezed thorugh NCT and the Garda at the station was laughing when She whent through everything with me.

Not at all. Done test. Failed. Spent €210. Failed again. Now have to spend over €100 and do test again and i am now wondering why i bothered really!!

I personally think it's the fact that waiting times for the NCT are still so bad..

.. I was driving around with a NCT 4 months out of date. I was waiting 2 months to hear back with a booking and another 2 months or so til the date.

I had the letter in my glove-box to say I applied if I was stopped, but I never was.

Could be worse.. I was in a car crash (and car was a write-off) less than a month after passing my NCT.

Have you considered that the purpose of that particular checkpoint was not to enforce road traffic legislation?

It was at night and they shone a torch at my discs and had cones and a checkpoint sign out on the road stopping traffic coming both directions.
