"€500million (£400stg million) was pledged by the Irish Government to the Northern Ireland Executive to improve the northern section of the Derry – Dublin route with no return to the Irish exchequer. "

    http://www.savenewgrange.org/2010/08/25/public-consultation-for-n2-clontibret-to-northern-ireland-border-road-scheme-route-corridor-options/

just heard on rte how we are gong to spend €500 million on northern irish roads??
what is that all about? isnt there talk of a loan from britain and we are spending this kind of money on their roads?
if thats the case mind as well just give it to the IRA.
why are we spending this kind of money on occupied land that suppossedly is not a province of our country.
    This is just absolute treason.

Last year I had the misfortune of trying to get around Enniskillen on saturday of halloween bank holiday.
The place was jammed with Southern shoppers thanks to our higher VAT rate.
Now imagine what it will be like in future.

So this money will probably benefit us more in building roads to Northern shopping centres and retail parks than if it was used to say build one Km of Metro North track.

I am not allowed discuss …

We should give money to terrorists instead of building a road to Donegal?

its such a ridiculous use of irish money im saying thats if we dont own the north of ireland than why are we paying for it?
i used to think well if the british want it fine but let them pay every cent to the north but currently its a british province so is it the case why is it that the north of ireland is not yours but we the british are not paying for it and you are???
Why are we making it easier for people to shop in the north?
thats bad for irelands economy so we are going to help and assist in taking money that should be spent in the republic and giving it to the british northern ireland?
in last year budget if i recall it right the government did not increase tax on alcohol as they knew it would be an incentive to make people shop in the nort and now we build roads just to help people shop in the north?
wheres is the god damn logic in that????
also britain are unhappy about how they are giving us a few billion of a loan which they will make good money back on interest.
My own theory is that the only reason the brits are offering the money is because of this €500 million investment in the north.
Whats the point in not continuing to fight for the north of ireland if we have to pay for it?
