Maby someone might be able to help,-- Trying to get an old reg no resurrected.Belongs to an old MG Y Type. ZE 9231. This car was assembled in Dublin in 1951-52.The chassis number is stamped on the front leg. Now I"ve been told that there is another MGY -- ZE 9351 still on the road. The chassis no of this car is only one digit away from my one.I"ve been told that "No record exists" of my car. IF I could trace the owner of ZE 9351, then it might be possible to get some history on my car as they were so close in manufacture. Any Ideas??? Thanks

AFAIK this is possible, i think there is a procedure to reactivate lost registrations. Have you any documents for this car at all?

No no docs whatsoever. Been in touch with Dublin office as the car was first registered there. Very helpful lady who is trying to get records from archive dept. I dont know when their records started on computer, and to what extent they put past information on line. Thanks for showing interest.

Might be worthwhile banging an email off to the Model Y register in the UK.

A helpful Garda might be able to give you a lead on the registered owner of ZE 9351

The general rule of thumb here is if there has been no activity(either a change of ownership or taxing) since 1993 you won't find anything online. The motor tax office/Shannon will probably have a record but youll have to do some investigations to find out. I'm not sure what access a Garda would have, but I doubt it would be much more than you would find online yourself?
