"Limit 1 per table per visit • Voucher can be used against all purchases at Pacino’s including Breakfast, Lunch, and al a carte meals (one per table)"

Hmmmm.... I presumed it meant that if two of you go, you can get 50 quids worth of food and wine. However, the small print says 'A La Carte Meal - One per Table'... so that seems to imply that only one person can avail of it.... A bit confusing!!!!
Sounded like a great deal otherwise.

I bought two of em - This needs some clarification actually, yeah. I hope to God it doesn't mean what you think it to mean. I really can't see myself eating 50 quid's worth of food on lunch on any given day!

Hmm, that is a bit odd.

The way I read it too you can use up the full €50 value by buying some of their takeaway stuff, jars of sauces etc.

Going by previous vouchers what this means is that you can use a max of 1 per table. So if 2 go, you can only use one voucher.

What is their pantry/shop like? Voucher could be good for Christmas hampers if it is good.

I used a similar voucher in another restaurant & they just deducted the €50 off the bill for the table. You've paid your €20 in advance.

This is how I read it; It would be very odd for the voucher to only pertain to one person at a table, or one of the a la cart meals etc?

Yeah that has to be how it works.. Surely one a la carte meal couldnt be €50! Im going to assume it just means one per table, two of us stick a tenner in and get the voucher and go get up to €50 worth of food/drink...and hope for the best.

well i got the boards deal here when it was on and the staff (whom were terrible) insisted it was only valid for one person so we ended buying extra food we didnt want.
Food was bad also and place was dead.

    Really? :(

So two of ye sat down with a €50 voucher and they expected one of the two of ye to eat €50 worth of food on your own and the other to pay separately??

no the boards deal was for less.

    €8 paid for a €20 voucher.
staff were clueless about it really and I wasnt the first to use it.
they just insisted that one of us had to pay more than €20
it wasnt such a big deal as it just meant ordering a starter and dessert but kinda the principal and of course i didnt want them!

can anyone confirm that THIS voucher is per person? I need some clarity before i splash the cash! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,800 ✭✭✭Senna

It says "one per table" meaning that if its a table of 2/6/10/20 people, only one voucher can be used. Am i missing something? Does it say anywhere that its for one person only. I think people are confusing tables with people.

Reviews for this place are patchy, at best. Thread about it here:

I can confirm that the wording on the pdf voucher is: "Limit 1 per table per visit". Despite the patchy reviews linked above, I've eaten there before and it was nice enough (ranked 190/650+ on TA, lot of recent good reviews). Glad I bought two now.

Whenever I avail of a boards deal or similar, I just don't get drawn into it tbh. The terms are detailed clearly on the voucher (but may not have been the one you had) and I just make a point of repeatedly directin their attention to those terms if they have any issues. A little assertiveness goes a long way, and is obviously best done when it's time to pay and you're not running the risk of a spit-special for your trouble.

I'm not suggestin some sort of conspiracy, but in my own experience, participating companies messing about seems to be par for the course with these kind of deals, in that they can act a bit clueless about the vouchers etc, and try to impose limitations that were never originally stipulated. This has been the same in the 3 or 4 deals I've availed of (laughter lounge/fitzpatrick hotel etc.)

Of course the other thing to point out is that nowhere on the voucher does it specify that you have to tell them prior to eating that you are going to be using a voucher. As in nothing to stop you having your €50 worth of food and presenting them with a valid €50 voucher when it comes time to pay.

    From the voucher:

    3. Print out voucher and bring to establishment or display iPhone/Android
    voucher
    4. Enjoy!
    The Fine Print

or hamper) • Buy as many as you like - bookings required • Voucher can be
used against all purchases at Pacino’s including Breakfast, Lunch, and al a
carte meals (one per table), plus Christmas Gift vouchers and Hampers. (1
voucher deal per Gift card or hamper. Hampers are customised on request
    to the specific value)

This is another point of note, however it does actually stipulate you need to mention it. Unless explicitely required though that is generally a good idea so that you receive equal treatment to the "ordinary" customers. This unfortunately doesn't happen all the time, be it subconsciously on the part of the staff, or not. That said, the above account aside, I'm sure Pacino's will pose no objections/limitations to voucher usage for this deal.

As an aside, I was once sneered at after availing of a €20 per night deal in Bewley's hotel for asking to change room when the bin hadn't been emptied from the previous guests, the point being made that I'd gotten the room for so cheap that I should accept any shortcomings in standards. Just this week I called Fitzpatrick's hotel, enquired as to the availability of a double room for Saturday week, was told there was some available, then tried to secure the €79 for €170 deal as per the voucher, was met with stuttering and got transferred to "reservations", where I was promptly told by another lady that they were all booked up for Saturday. She kindly offered me Monday night though. Buyer-beware seems to be the main lesson from all of these deals.

Yeah I find that the trick is not to mention a voucher until the last possible opportunity and if they have any issues in honouring it ask to speak to someone more senior. People take too much lying down in this country.

No problems using the voucher. Only mentioned it when ordering too. Short review here.

Did you get to use the voucher for more than one person? ie. €50 off the total bill?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 106 ✭✭charlesh

i used the citydeals voucher for the exchequer gastro pub.
the staff did seem a bit off about it.
i would think twice about using a voucher again.
what i dont understand is that these vouchers are alledgedly to get people to try out your foodplace and hopefully build up a repeat business base.
so the people with vouchers are the very ones you should be giving extra good service to , in order to get them back again.
i for one will not darken the exchequer door again!

Yes, there were four of us there, €50 off the bill.

I bought this on a whim and am not too bothered going now - you can have mine if you like, for cost price. There's a facility to give the voucher as a gift, so I can transfer it over.

I seem to recall customers being mightily unimpressed with the fare.

I got it the last time. Food was decent enough. Not spectacular. But for €20? You could even go in and drink €50 worth of beer.
Edit: actually maybe not this time, looking at the T&Cs. When it was on Living Social there were very few restrictions.
