Time for athletes everywhere to take to the streets -

I hear from a reliable source that the government is planning to put three tolls on the Dublin City marathon course for next years race.
(In the best interests of the country).

The rumours that anybody owning more than one pair of runners will have to pay a €200 tax on each excess pair is still unsubstantiated.
Could be the ruin of ultra running in the country.

I think they're planning to introduce a HTFU tax on running tights.

The sporty council did mute the idea of charging a levy or all sporting events in case their funding is cut. Dont tell them about tolls please.

The RHS tax could be brought in. This tax got us out of the last blasted recession and jogging boom. It is targeted mainly at the types that wear the Ron Hill Stirrup tight by choice and not by poor laundry practice. Example, all those in DCM who finish after say 3:30 hours would be liable to pay the extra Garda costs etc etc. It would be on a sliding scale, 5 or 6 hourers would be fleeced. That would be the most high profile change. Others would include a Gait Levy. Everytime you get a Gait Analysis you would be taxed €10. Everytime you told a story in work or pub or messageboard how it changed your life would see a tax of €1000. I think the HRM meters would be too expensive to install based on the tax return you would get from charging €0.61 per KM clocked up on a HRM. Tough times ahead.
