I wouldn't with eBay, there are a lot of fakes out there.
Check out this thread for information on the brushes - Mac and other quality brands- and some info on make up.Here.

You're definitely best to go into a MAC counter and have a chat with someone there. Have a look in her make up bag if you can and see what colours she normally wears/products she has the most of. i.e lipstick/eye shadow/eye liner/lip gloss/blushers Also the make up artist will be able to give you a few recommendations based on her skin colouring (dark/fair) and eye colour.

    Good luck :)

I was chatting to a customer the other day and she was telling me that she got a brush set for 65e in BT's....she said that it was "the large fancy make up counter as you go in the side door of BT's so I'm guessing it's mac.

I'm gonna be around Grafton street tomorrow so I'll pop in and take a scout around and report back!! :)

    Hi Folks,

Thanks for the replies, i have a lot of investigation to do  I appreciate the comments! Just one thing that i have noticed, there isn't a way to order products from an online MAC cosmetics shop... Looks like i will have to head for Brown Thomas!

As far as I'm aware you can phone order from them. Best to find the nearest branch and ring them about it?
I would say though that you may end up getting a much more useful gift if you can visit a counter

yeah defo go into bt's. if your doing a beauty hamper a few suggestions id have would be defo a bottle of perfume, a complete set of facial skincare products (cleanser, toner, moisturiser, face scrub, face mask) Liz Earle products are great but can only be bought online or in a beauticans in milltown if not soap and glory or No7 are nice (you get that in boots). And then bodycare so bodywash, bodyscrub, moisturiser, hand cream, foot cream. Again soap and glory is nice or clarins. but tbh brands you find on the shelves in boots not at the counters are grand and alot cheaper. also for makeup inglot is really good and the same quality as MAC and a good bit cheaper its in dundrum or liffer valley. For makeup Id steer clear of getting foundation as you cant be 100% sure of her skin colour (unless you buy the makeup she already uses). Id get some eyeshadows blush eyeliner and lipgloss and a defo brushes. Palettes are a good idea they have lots of colour inglot palettes are great but you could get something like an urban decay one Also a hair mask might be nice as well

    hope this helps....;)

Hey popped into BT's today. They are selling like 5 brushes for 65e, they are the travel size, Bobbi brown were selling 8 for 185 but they were proper sized brushes in a fantastic case. The mac bag was this horrible green tartan brush bag, IMO....HORRIBLE! But just for the brushes I would pay it, there was a stippling brush, blush brush, two eyeshadow brushes and another brush which I can't remember (sorry!)

Nope, Mac don't sell online to Ireland, they only do in the UK and a few other countries.

Don't bother with the kits of mini make-up brushes - they are not as good as the proper brushes. You'd be better off buying her a couple of proper MAC brushes and then that can start her off, rather than buying a kit of not-so-good ones.

What does she wear? Perhaps you could start off with a foundation brush and a blusher or a bronzer brush.

If you can afford it that sounds like an awesome gift, I'd grab this one. Get her a brush cleanser too!! If Bobbi Brown doesnt have one Mac does
