Just a quick query. With the recent openings of the Crusheen to Gort motorway and the Birdhill to Limerick stretch of the M7 for example have the signs on the roads indicating the distance to certain towns being adjusted. For example coming out of Dublin and it says Limerick is xKM away have these been changed since the Borris in Ossery and Birdhill bypasses were opened? Or will they be?

and adding to that, do the Motorway distnace signs indicate the distance to the junction or include the offline section too.?

I can't confirm that this is a fact but I was under the impression that distances were to a town's GPO/main post office. e.g. - Travelling towards Dublin the distance signs indicate the distance to the GPO on O'Connell Street; travelling towards Galway it's the distance to the post office on Eglinton Street.

I've heard this too. Seems to be correct. It's the same for villages etc.

Motorway distance signs include the offline section. I presume there are distance signs to Kilkenny on the M9...that'd be a pretty good example.

As far as I'm aware the distances are correct to the time of the road being opened, so this would basically mean any signs for Limerick leaving Dublin will not be correct when the last section is complete, even the signs on the new Borris' stretch.
