Just wondering if anyone has any idea as to what i should be getting for my car. I am considering trading a 2008 Toyota Corolla Luna. I have been offered €11900 by the garage for this car, there seems to be no more movement in them. So any ideas as to what i should be getting would be much appreciated!

Dont overload us with the details or anything!*

*Try telling us EVERYTHING about the car and someone might be able to give you a ballpark figure

Don't get hung up on what you get for it. Concentrate on the cost to change and decide if the new car is worth that to you. Another element to consider is what you're trading in against. There may be more movement in price on different cars

What you are being offered for your old car has little relevance when trading up, the only figure that matters is what the garage want from you with your old car to trade up. Pointless being offered a great trade-in price for your old car if the garage are overpricing the new car you are buying. All they are doing is giving it to you in one hand and taking it back from the other.

You need to shop around and see what cost to change figure another garage will offer you for your Corolla against a similar 5008.

last time I checked you'd be doing well to get one for 19500 straight.

Are you talking about one in non metallic white excluding delivery and related charges and on a scrappage deal?

Would be interested as I'm trying to get a new 1.33 terra cheap.

No a neighbour got one this year for that. Now that was the older model. The facelift one is dearer I suppose.

Thats a fair price, your car is only worth that in reality. Next year it will have a retail price of between 12500-13000, so after the garage service valet and warranty it, its a fair price.

That's actually strong money for an undesirable car to be honest! Petrols of any description are very hard to sell. Even a Corolla, in rare enough Luna spec, is very undesirable when all used car buyers want is diesel with the cheap road tax. Once upon a time a petrol Corolla would have sold by word of mouth, especially in a decent spec like yours! But a lot has changed since 2008. I actually think they are giving you too much OP.

Having said all that, I would agree with what the others have said. How many shiny notes you have to hand over to get the Pug is far more important than how much the garage tells you your car is worth. Some people will spend more money for exactly the same car in garage B because garage B told them that their car is worth more than what garage A said it was worth, even though the cost to change in garage A was less(i.e. a better deal overall for you):)!

This model Corolla sold poor after the VRT changes as the high CO2 figures meant it was costly to tax compared to simlar sized cars, Toyota had to do a Prize Bonds promotion where you got €10,000 worth of prize bonds for a year and this shifted hundreds of them that they were stuck with. They since concentrated stocking the diesels and 1.33 petrol model.

Thank you all for your replies. Its great to hear others opinions. I hear what you are saying about the price of the 5008. I am getting the 5008 for €14750 of my own which i do think is a fair enough deal. so the deal is something like this.

    tade in €11900
    me €14750
    Toatal €26650

2010 High spec SX model, 13km
    rrp for 2011 model €30500
