    Hi folks,

I'm confident with desktop upgrades but don't have a clue when it comes to laptop components. Would love someone to give me advice here...

Macbook Pro Unibody (removable battery, early 2009), 320GB HD.

I'd like to put in one of these:

Should that work? As regards doing the job, I have a full Time Machine backup and OS disks so should be fine.

It should work just fine but AFAIK your laptop comes with a 7200 RPM drive so you may find it a little slower.

Why go from a fast 320GB HDD to a slow 500GB HDD when just a little more money can get a superior external HDD? That way you can more than double your capacity without trashing performance ;)

Awesome thanks @knasher, I just checked the RPM on the existing one and it's 5400 so hopefully I won't notice much diff.

@solitaire Good point, but with several externals already I just figured I could get more workspace built in. There won't be a speed difference as far as I can tell.

    Thanks for your help!
