6 Nations 2011 - Tickets

Does anyone know when the ticket arrangements for next year's 6 nations matches will be announced?

I was hoping to get tickets for the Wales game in Cardiff as a Christmas present but I couldn't find any mention of tickets on the wru website and according to irishrugby.ie, 'Ticket Details for the RBS 6 Nations will be announced at a later date.'

I bought tickets for the 2010 6 Nations Italy game this time last year (well, 1st Dec - but I'm nearly sure they were on sale for a wee while before that), so I wonder what the delay is this year? Could the IRFU be spending extra time deliberating after their Autumn Internationals ticketing strategy was so broadly condemned, or is it just normal that they'd wait til the AIs are over?

    Thanks Riskymove,
but I have already checked the wru website and only went looking at the IRFU when I couldn't get any information there.

I just think it's curious that there's no information available at all yet, when I know I was able to buy tickets for the Italy game on the 1st of Dec last year.

The IRFU are 'reviewing' ticketing strategy in light of recent events!

so it might be a bit later than normal this year

IRFU doesn't sell the tickets to away matches.
There's a Supporters Club charter to the Welsh game being organised (there is one to a Six Nations game every year).
It entails charter flight (same day), bus transfer and match ticket. Last year was at The Twick and the year before, Cardiff for what turned out to be the biggest day in Irish rugby history.

You should be able to get tickets for the 6 nations when they are announced on the WRU site, they haven't been yet though.

Italy games are very different to Wales games. Sometimes all the tickets will be snapped up by clubs and supporters clubs leaving none on general sale.

For our last 4 visits to Cardiff to play Wales in the 6N, only once have tickets gone on general sale on the website. In fairness, two of those visits were grand slam matches so demand was particularly high!

    Thanks for the info everyone.

I appreciate that Italy V Ireland in Croke Park this year was different to Ireland V Wales in Cardiff next year, but I was just using that to illustrate the fact that there was information available this time last year re ticketing for the 6 nations games and it does not seem to be the case this year.

Anyhoo, it looks like the Scots have already got something organised for the Ireland game in Edinburgh, so I might consider that instead.

Would have preferred the Welsh game though :(

Yeah, but they already announced the 6 nations ticket prices for next year (think it's 100 a pop not 100% sure). This coupled with the fact that they have already sold a number of these probably means that the review will be for other games ..... most likely the pre world cup friendlys ....

I would be surprised if the ticket prices are 'downwardly' reviewed for the 6 nations anytime soon.

I already pointed that out...he asked about the timeline for 6N tickets by IRFU also (he referred to when he could buy an Italy ticket this year)
