If you were thinking of going to Top Gear Live but the ticket price put you off, this might change your mind. www.topgearfestival.ie/ireland-am
Sales must be slow so a big drop in Ticket prices.
General tickets were €59/€84 now only €46
Diamond tickets were €95 now only €56 (That's a €39 discount per ticket)
Have to say i feel sorry for the people that paid the full price but i will be taking advantage of the discounts.

Big mistake to move it from the RDS, classic case of getting too big for your boots.

Sign of the times, folks don't have the money to splash out on pricey tickets....Christmas just round the corner...etc

Not nice for folks who paid full whack..

will this be like the RDS? with the stage show and all the scripted BS "great to be here in eire" and all that crap

or will it be a different set up? otherwise i wouldn't go

I was at that Top Gear show in 2008 and to be honest, it was a waste of money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,213 ✭✭✭PrettyBoy

They're giving them away in some coffee shop in Citywest.

Literally, they are giving them away for nothing. Just go to the counter and ask for Top Gear tickets.

Went to this last year, glad I did because now I know for sure that I will never ever waste my money on it again.
The most interesting cars at the event were on the 1/18 scale model stands, and don't get me started on that Clarkson prick.

I've never heard any good reports. Anyone I know went for free through corporates etc. And even then gave it a lukewarm review. Good few of them were motorheads and no one said it was "must see" etc. General feedback was they wouldn't have paid for it. Scripted and useless, just like the TV show. Which I used love, now detest.

I hear you brother,,used to buy the mag every month, can't even stand that now, never mind the tv series.

JC and RH have lost their way, still kind of like JM though.

More fun and better value is to take a day out to see one of the major European car shows: Frankfurt, Paris or Geneva. I did the Paris show a couple of years back. 100 euro all in for a same day return Ryanair ticket plus all costs. Completely amazing.

The TG show is just an overpriced Clarkson wankathon.

Have to agree, I can never understand why they hold it in November, surely it'd be a winner if it was held in Jan or Feb, loads of people would then buy them as Christmas pressies.

    Well you wont believe this.

As I sat here reading this thread I just got a call to say I won 2 VIP tickets for tonight.

Went to it the first time and I can confirm it was not half as good as I though it would be.

But my sister's bf rang me this morning to say he'd got two free tickets for this evening so I'm going to go as I don't have to pay and I've nothing better to do!

I heard this got worse with each passing year. I got freebies for the track event so ill go along and take a look. If I get offered cheap tickets for the 6pm show while im there I might take that offer up.

Did you get sorted? Do you still have the entry only tickets?

I didn't get tix as I'd have no interest in the stage show, but I wouldn't mind the chance to get in and have a look around the display cars or whatever they have...

I paid full whack for 'diamond' tickets in august. I was there last night and have to say it was a load of ****e. It's just a handy earner for Clarkson and co. The drifting show out on the track was the best of the action and as for the '' three floors of supercars'' promised, twenty odd on one floor and two floors of a trade show for the auto industry. I was especially annoyed when, at the end of the show, security invited anyone back stage mentioning nothing about the special wristbands I paid extra for (like a fool!). Wasn't impressed, won't be going again.

Some people didnt go at all. I met a bunch of lads in the Kildare outlet village today who gave up because of the weather.

I'd say many more didnt even get there today.

Kind of sums up the general feedback I got from it. I think it mainly appeals to kids who wouldn't put a value on production value. Just my two cents.

Thats laughable. The weather wasn't that bad to be fair.

On an aside, can anyone confirm this. I heard every car in the live show is a replica and some of the car's on the floors are replicas? It was on a Australian Customs show on TV, they detailed the importation of the cars for Top Gear through an Aussie airport, and it kept saying "All these cars are replica's" on the screen. Very odd.

Actually the M7 was pretty much a deathtrap this morning around 9:30am. There were a good few crashed cars and the driving lanes were treacherous. I tried to leave at Portalington exit to use the N7 towards Kildare and it was incredibly dangerous.
