iPhone Gmail - 'Cannot Get Mail' last few days.

    Howdy,

    Since last week everytime I open my mail app or refresh mail I keep getting errors like:

    Cannot Get Mail
    The connection to the server failed.

    But then i'll hit refresh a few times and it'll start working again. Sometimes I need to restart the phone, about 4 mates are having the same problem with Gmail too.

    Anyone else getting this? Know a fix?

    Do a search on this forum for Gmail. it must have been answered 5 or 6 times already.

    Sorry thought that link to the search would show the results, clearly not.

    Anyway If I am being so tick as to not see a previous post about it please let us know, or even a mod delete the thread. Genuinely cant see one.

    are you using microsoft exchange service for gmail on iphone, its in mail settings,
    its the only proper way ! the gmail way on iphone is crap !

    instructions here !
    Enter Account Info
    5. In the Email field, enter your full Google Account email address. If you use an @googlemail.com address, you may see an "Unable to verify certificate" warning when you proceed to the next step.
    6. Leave the Domain field blank.
    7. Enter your full Google Account email address as the Username.
    8. Enter your Google Account password as the Password.
    9. Tap Next at the top of your screen.
    9a. Choose Cancel if the Unable to Verify Certificate dialog appears.
    10. When the new Server field appears, enter m.google.com.
    11. Press Next at the top of your screen again.

    I was using the gmail setup, but have just now followed your advice and removed the gmail settings and set my gmail up through Microsoft exchange, hopefully that may sort it for me. Thanks a lot.
